Fund Purpose: This fund increases the ability of PYM members to afford to send their children to Friends schools within Philadelphia Yearly Meeting.

Eligibility: Grants from this fund are available to children of PYM members in grades K- 12 at PYM Friends schools where families meet financial need standard as determined by the school.

Application Process: The application process begins when the family submits an Application Form to the Monthly Meeting for signature of the clerk. The family then ensures that the signed application goes to the school right away. The overall sequence and timing of this process are set forth in the Application Timeline.

Award Determination: Each year, the grant amount per-student depends on the amount of funds available and the number of applicants. Grant amounts tend to be approximately $600 per student or ($1,000 per student enrolled in a Friends school for children with learning differences).

Award Distribution: Awards from the Friends Education Fund take the form of grants to the schools. Checks are sent to the schools in the fall in a lump sum for all participating students at each school.

Fund Information: The income source from the Friends Council is the Friends Education Fund. Funding sources from PYM include: Jonathan E. Rhoads Endowment Fund, Shaw-North Fund, Samuel Jeanes Fund, Partenheimer Fund, Anna Gray Morris Trust and the DeCou Trust.
