About Friends Education Fund 

Purpose: Funding for tuition aid for Friends children in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting (PYM) attending Friends schools in the PYM area.

Organization Description

The Friends Education Fund is under the care of Friends Council on Education and has the mission of raising funds to support tuition aid for PYM Friends children attending the thirty-one Friends elementary, secondary and special needs schools in the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting area.

Friends Council on Education annually disburses tuition aid to the schools from the Friends Education Fund and from Philadelphia Yearly Meeting's tuition aid funds. PYM Education Standing Committee in coordination with PYM Committee on Friends Education has responsibility for determining the annual dollar amount of PYM tuition aid funds to Friends schools, which is then disbursed along with FEF funds disbursed to the schools by Friends Council on Education.

About PYM Committee on Friends Education

The mission of the Committee on Friends Education is to advance the cause of Friends education within Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. The committee's work falls within the following areas:

  • Supporting Friends schools and their Quaker character;
  • Supporting Friends children in Friends schools;
  • Educational grant making;
  • Collaborating with Friends Council on Education;
  • Being a champion for Friends education.
